On Friday the Select Your Franchise team are off to the National Franchise Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham. So, what does the exhibition entail for prospective franchisees and franchisors, and who will be there?
Exhibitors
The National Franchise Exhibition is usually the largest franchise event in the UK and is attended by over 150 exhibitors. The exhibition organisor states that all of the exhibiting franchisors are accredited by the British Franchise Association, which means they must adhere to the Association’s code of ethics. This is a great opportunity to see what’s on offer and meet franchisors face to face.
Seminars
There are a lot of seminars on offer for both franchisees and franchisors, which are run by the bfa or other franchise organisations, including franchisors. Here are some that may be of interest:
An introduction to franchising – if you’re attending a franchise event it is likely that you’ve already done some research. This seminar will help you understand the ways franchising will change your life professionally and personally, what to look for in a franchise, and when to consult experts. This runs from 10.45-11.45 on Friday 5 October.
Essential tips for franchising your business – if you’ve already got a successful business format or are looking into starting one, and you’re considering franchising, this is the seminar for you. It covers the kinds of business that can be franchised, where to begin and where you can get advice, all about franchise agreements, and the risks involved. This one is also on 5 October and goes from 12.00-13.00.
Making franchising your future – this covers the types of franchise that are available as well as the advantages of franchising in a recession, the size of the franchise market and how the banks can help you with funding. This takes place on 6 October from 14.30-15.30.
Clinics
There are two clinics available at the National Franchise Exhibition. The first is a careers clinic facilitated by Personal Career Management for those considering franchising as their next option. The second is a Business Plan clinic facilitated by Franchise Finance. Your Business Plan is vital for applying to finance your franchise, so this is as invaluable tool. This can be booked here.
Children’s activities
You can make a family day out of attending the National Franchise Exhibition, as the Exhibition boasts a Children’s Activity Centre run by The Creation Station. The Activity Centre is free, so you can attend with your child while your partner visits the exhibition.
